Meet Up Strategic Design Sandbox: Time pacing strategy in Roadmapping

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a workshop, seminar, course or other meeting

    Description

    Wat we doen
To stay competitive companies need to innovate. Their star products and services of today will eventually become obsolete. However a great innovation at the wrong time will just not succeed. When designing innovation roadmaps, timing is key.

Strategic designers need to decide upon the length of their timeline, how far the vision will be projected to a future point in time, and over what time intervals new design innovations will be mapped. The key in answering these questions is in the “design clocks”: the rhythm of innovation in Design Roadmapping.

Design roadmapping is a process that enables organizations and strategic designers to devise creative responses to future strategic challenges. In her book Design Roadmapping, Lianne Simonse guides designers, innovators and strategists alike in their journey of roadmapping the future. https://www.designroadmapping.com/

In this session Lianne will share some of the essentials in design roadmapping, to then delve into the challenges of time pacing (when is the right time to innovate?) through a hands-on exploration of “design clocks” in shared service startups.
Lianne Simonse is passionate about innovation, design and strategy and its wonderful combination. Lianne teaches Design Roadmapping at the Industrial Design Engineering Faculty of Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands and has combined her academic positions with 20 years of professional experience in industry.

The book Design Roadmapping is available at BIS Publishers and Waltman (during May for a special promotion price). Curious? Grasp some inspiration now with a free download of the intro chapter at designroadmapping.com.
