Improve healthcare, shift to sustainable energy, make the world a safer place. Chip development is key to worldwide innovation. Nowadays topic “Digitisation” needs innovative, performant hardware and cannot be done by software alone. Electronics and photonics are important factors in overcoming the performance limits of today's technologies. Thus, possible applications of photonics in microchips is the next big thing in micro- and nanoelectronics and fits perfectly into the focus of “ROCKET”. ROCKET (RegiOnal Collaboration on Key Enabling Technologies) is an Interreg V A project that promotes cooperation between industry and science in the Dutch-German border region in order to strengthen research, technological development and thus innovation. This project is funded by the European Union and the INTERREG partners within the framework of the INTERREG programme. Therefore, on 19 February 2019, the NanoMicroMaterialsPhotonics.NRW cluster together with the NMWP e.V. and the Business Cluster Semiconductors Netherlands will dedicate a topic evening to the future of chip development and possible integration of photonics into chips (PICs, photonic integrated circuits) and connect experts and stakeholders in the border-region. Before the topic-evening, participants will have the opportunity to visit the new Chip Integration Technology Centre and gain insights into the infrastructure and working methods. The get-together at the end of the event offers all participants the opportunity to network with each other and to deepen the technical discussions with the speakers.| Period | 19 Feb 2019 |
