Research profile

Frederik is an advisor on inland navigation at the department of Water, Traffic and Environment of Rijkswaterstaat and a Phd-candidate in the researchgroup of Ports and Waterways.

In both positions he examines climate impacts and analyses the effectiveness of a wide variety of adaptation measures to enhance waterborne transport in the future. In his research he applies a systemic and multi-sector research approach and analyses the problem from the perspective multiple stakeholders. The modelling tools are agent-based to simulate systemic and cascading effects.

His PhD-research is funded by Rijkswaterstaat and SmartPort.

Academic background

Frederik holds a MSc-degree in Hydraulic Engineering at Delft University of Technology, faculty Civil Engineering & Geosciences.

After his graduation in 2009, he joined Rijkswaterstaat as a Hydraulic Engineer at the department Programs, Projects & Maintenance.
