Abstract

The paper considers possibilities of applying computer vision to the computerization of architecture and in particular to the transfer of existing drawings to the computer. It is proposed that, given the technical problems encountered at the lower levels of machine vision and the representational limitations of CAD systems, automated recognition of architectural drawings should concentrate on the higher knowledge-based levels of building elements and spatial articulation.
