Cultural historical values and structures are playing an increasingly important. Almost a hunderd years ago, only trees or houses were preserved. Nowadays new planological tools as country house biotopes or country houses landscapes are being introduced to preserve the context and coherence of groups of country houses in their landscapes. This article summarizes hunderd years of preservation of country houses in the Netherlands (1917/28 untill 2015).
