Abstract
The Netherlands has long tradition of planning compact urbanization. In view of this, how effective have the Dutch government's policies been in relation of the Netherlands? Have sustainability goals actually been met? We conducted a comparative analysis of post-war planning periods in order to demonstrate how the aim of preserving open landscapes has affected the shape and form areas in the Netherlands.
