Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate on application of microwave engineering in non-destructive testing (NDT) for crack detecting in pipe system. Pipe was modelled with computer simulation technology, HFSS simulation software. The study is based on modelled a 10 cm pipe to determine the length and location of crack for full-length, half-length and quarter-length crack if crack width =0.2 mm, depth = 0.5 mm and length =10 mm. In this research we applied the microwave technique to detect crack based on measuring pipe S11 characteristic and tried to simulate a crack in different pipe shell layers.
